The Role:

We are seeking a professional, organized, and friendly Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our busy law office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in creating a positive first impression for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome clients and visitors with a professional and friendly attitude.

  • Maintain a tidy and organized reception area.

  • Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages.

  • Assist with light administrative tasks, including copying, scanning, and filing documents.

  • Manage conference room scheduling and ensure rooms are prepared for meetings.

  • Process incoming faxes and emails, distributing them to the appropriate individuals.

  • Provide general information to clients and direct inquiries to the relevant departments.

  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the office.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 1+ years of experience in a receptionist or administrative support role, preferably in a law office or professional services environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional and polished demeanor.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Punctual, reliable, and a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with legal case management software (e.g., Clio).

  • Knowledge of basic legal terminology.

Paralegal/Legal Assistant (Columbus)

Sheppard Law Offices is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Legal Assistant for an immediate opening at its Columbus, Ohio office.

Sheppard Law Offices is a small Central Ohio law firm with its primary practice concentration in the areas of divorce, bankruptcy, taxation, estate planning and probate. The successful candidate must have prior paralegal and/or legal assistant experience.

The candidate will be responsible for accurately performing case administration in all firm practice areas. The candidate will provide service to clients, court personnel, counsel, and staff. The candidate will follow office and billing procedures.

Basic qualifications for consideration include:

-Minimum high school diploma or equivalent and one-year prior legal experience.

-Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.

-Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

-Ability to review and summarize large quantities of information.

-Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

-Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

-Ability to maintain high levels of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.

-Basic mathematical skills.

-Reliability and a strong work ethic.
